About Us
Extreme Creatures.. Open Since November 2005!!
We are an organization which contributes to the education of animals, to provide children with a better understanding of our worlds creatures. The children participate in a session whether with a group of classmates, or perhaps while at Guides. Questions can be asked and answered about the unique lizards and reptiles that they see before them. The well-known Sully the chameleon might even crawl on their head! The kids have fun while learning traits, characteristics and myths that are true or false about the animals from trained educator's. At the end of a session, if the children have brought camera's, photographs can be taken with certain animals. Drawings can be sent to Extreme Creatures address, or they can be drawn during the session, and every month a winner will be choosen and they will have their picture displayed on the website, Also their first name only, and whether or not they were with a group of guides, a class from a school, or a party will be displayed. Good Luck!! For Extreme Creatures Mail Information, please e-mail extremecreatures_ca@yahoo.co.
Please note: If you are a teacher, and would like us to attend your school, we have special programs which are designed based on the cirriculum of Science (Diversity of Animals). This includes K-9, grades 10-12 have a different cirriculum, but we can base the information around the units studied in your courses.
About Us
My name is Aamie Gillam, and I personally have loved animals since I was old enough to grab a bug. Teaching children about animals is just my way of showing kids how interesting creatures from all around the world are. I love children and can make the presentation fun, while it is also very educational. For Guides, The Endangered Species Badge can be earned by the Extreme Creatures Prestentation, while the children learn about animals that are rare, endangered, or exstinct. They play games, and also draw pictures. Its very exciting!! I also enjoy the fact that I bring along some of the creatures which have been brought to me because of poor health due to the way they were treated and taken care of. This shows the children how much these animals need from us to survive. Some of these animals include a leopard gecko, who was dropped off on my doorstep since he had MBD (metobolic Bone Disease) a common disease caused by the owner not giving the gecko enough calcium. This gecko can hardly walk.
Some Fun Things I love to do at parties is show the kids Aurum(meaning Gold in latin) the Golden Gecko, he loves to sky dive. I raise my hand high in the air, and let him jump down to a pillow with his arms spread wide! The Children love it! Also Paddy, the whites tree frog, who will, i promise, pee on me at least once!
Below: The Picture Below is A Rosy Boa, She also attends the sessions, and is Very Friendly!
